Aleksander Arquines is a rising senior finishing his undergraduate Political Science degree with a concentration in International Relations from Virginia Commonwealth University this year. He studies foreign policy and geopolitics of the East and Southeast Asian regions. Aleks draws inspiration for his interest in human rights in North Korea from the hardships his grandmother went through growing up in post- World War II South Korea. The quality of research done by HRNK and the focus on North Korean politics greatly influenced his decision to learn more about HRNK. As an intern, he wishes to align his academic studies in foreign policy with the goals of HRNK and conduct more research on the political climate of the Korean Peninsula.
