Jason Bartlett graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a dual degree in International Relations and Foreign Languages with regional concentrations in East Asia and Latin America, and language concentrations in Korean and Spanish. Jason was also an exchange student at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, where he studied Korean language, history, and politics through an intensive 200-hour immersion program over the course of five months. During his time abroad, he traveled to the Ganghwa Peace Observatory and saw North Korea through the lens of a telescope, which fortified his interest in pursuing a career related to international human rights. Jason also interned for Liberty in North Korea (LiNK), a non-profit organization that helps to rescue and resettle North Korean refugees hiding in China, and had the opportunity to work alongside North Korean refugees to help accelerate change. He is also a certified English as a Foreign Language Instructor and specializes in teaching conversational English to immigrant and refugee populations. Jason hopes to gain a more in-depth understanding of the North Korean humanitarian crisis through his time at HRNK and plans on returning to South Korea to continue assisting North Korean refugees before pursuing his Master's degree in the following year.
